Students will become the working parts of the Underground Railroad. At the beginning of the process each student will be given a label (slave, conductors, slave owners, etc.) Each page will given each group an idea of what there character felt about the Underground Railroad and how they would be associated with the Underground Railroad.
The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes and safe houses used by 19th-century enslaved people of African descent in the United States in efforts to escape to free states and Canada with the aid of abolitionists and allies who were sympathetic to their cause. Still with laws like the fugitive slave law many slaves never reached freedom. Each student will read each page regardless of group. You will need each page if you are going to best complete your journey entry.
